Compete
Class competitions run on the projector at BugBot Competitions. Every student's robot races in one shared 3D arena, shown on the projector and on every screen at once.
Open BugBot Competitions
How a competition runs
- The teacher opens a game on the projector and starts a room. A six-letter room code appears.
- Students open the same game on their own screens, type the code and a name, and submit their program.
- The teacher starts the race. Every program runs in the same arena, and the result appears on the projector and on every screen.
- To keep score across a lesson, start a class session first. It keeps a points table across every game you play that day.
Students can also practise any game on their own against the built-in bots, before or after the race.
The games
There are 19 games, grouped by how hard they are and how robots take part: one robot on its own, a free-for-all, or teams. No game is about pushing another robot. Each one also appears in the lessons after the module that teaches what it needs.

F4 |
No driving. Noisy sensors, one question at a time: average enough readings to be right, but not so many you are slow. |
| Maze relay |
Free-for-all |
4 |
2 |
Four robots, one maze, one goal. Up, across, down. First into the green zone wins. |
| Maze time trial |
Single robot |
1 to 8, one at a time |
2 |
A maze nobody has seen before, different every race. The robots run it one at a time, each on its own clock. Fastest to the far corner wins. |

| Capture the marker |
Free-for-all |

4 |
A tag cube that keeps moving: the first robot within 8 cm scores and it jumps to the next spot. Eight spots, sixty seconds. |
| Line race |
Free-for-all |
4 |
6 |
Two laps of a taped loop, eight checkpoints on the straights. Leave the line and you are held to crawling speed until you are back. |
| The radio relay |
Teams |
2 to 4 teams of 2 |
9 |
Teams of two. Leg 1 drives to the handover zone and radios its team mate; leg 2 may not move until that message arrives, and then sprints for the line. |

What it is |
| Netball |
Teams |
2v2 |
7 |
Two against two, one ball, no contact, no running with it. Hold the ball and you can only turn: pass to a team mate or shoot for the goal. Bump an opponent and you are frozen for three seconds. |
| The trained race |
Free-for-all |
2 to 8 |
8 |
A long sprint on robots that drift twice as badly as before, every one differently. Brains that measure their own robot and adapt beat brains with fixed numbers. |
Every game program is an ordinary lesson program: the same from bugbot import *
connect() and the same functions, plus info() and others() from the API Reference.
